Marsh Mellow Bakery Sells Stale Doughnut!

I popped in to buy a cheese & onion slice and a doughnut.

As always, the cheese & onion slice was delicious. My friend took one bite of the doughnut and said it was stale so we fed it to the birds as we weren't sure when we would return to the Bakery.

Went to the Bakery on Friday and bought a pasty and explained to the young girl that the doughnut had been stale. She was most apologetic and said that the old stock 'sometimes got mixed in with the new'! Nice confession!

She asked if I'd got the offending doughnut but I explained that it had been given to the birds.

Behind the counter was an older lady (presumably the wife of the owner) and the chap who bakes the bread (who I assume is the owner). Both of them overheard the conversation but no attempt was made to intervene.

If I had been running the businesses, the very least I would have done is to offer a free cake to compensate for the loss!

What's happened to good old customer service?

Needless to say, I won't be wasting my money there again even though I will miss the pasties!
